Case Study, Opus Albums

Opus Albums is an online reseller of photographic supplies both home and abroad. Whilst having their own website, they also sell through the National Photographic Society, as well as having an Ebay and Amazon shop. As each sale was being processed via individual portals, this meant that the owner was effectively running four shops! This made it very difficult for him to track new and returning customers, as well as running off sales lists and marketing lists.

We got round this by creating a central database which pulled in all the individual portal transactions.

After a few tweaks and custom field changes, we were ready. The first thing we did was to take all the existing data and drop it into the database. This resulted in a database of several thousand customers.

After much filtering and duplicate checking, we whittled this down to around five thousand.

The owner not only has better visibility of new and returning customers, he can also do more effective target marketing by selecting customer by region, product, last spend, etc.
